Almost 300 Years. Seven Generations. One Family.
Since 1719, the Swinkels family have been brewing beer. Seven generations of brewers, always looking to improve, always looking to make the best beer possible. And today, nothing has changed. They're still independent, still a family brewer.
Today, the brewery stands on the site of the family farmhouse. And that's because of what lies beneath it. Under Lieshout is a natural mineral water source that makes our beer unique, water that goes into every single bottle of Bavaria that you see.
So, why is a Dutch beer called Bavaria?
The Swinkels began by brewing traditional Dutch beer, but in 1924, Johannes Swinkels began brewing a new type of beer, made famous by Bavarian brewers. A Pilsener beer. And that's why, to this day, we're called Bavaria.
